An Empire State of Mind is coming to one of the year’s biggest sporting events.
Brooklyn-born hip-hop legend Jay-Z is officially taking center stage as the headliner for the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
From Executive Producer to Center Stage
Since 2019, Jay-Z’s entertainment agency, Roc Nation, has served as the official Live Music Entertainment Strategists for the NFL. Behind the scenes, he has curated some of the most memorable halftime moments in recent memory, including landmark performances by Rihanna, Bad Bunny, Usher, and Kendrick Lamar.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell noted that when the league initially partnered with Roc Nation, his primary request was for Jay-Z to eventually take the stage himself. After six years of producing the spectacle for other artists, the 25-time Grammy winner is stepping into the spotlight.
For several years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with JAŸ-Z and Roc Nation, and I’ve seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl Halftime Show,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that JAŸ-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him. I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage
A 30-Year Career Milestone
The timing of the halftime performance aligns with a major career anniversary. The show follows the 30th anniversary of Jay-Z’s 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of his landmark 2001 release, The Blueprint.
“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
