What’s a Digital Nomad Visa?
A Digital Nomad Visa grants non-citizens to reside and work remotely within the host country. Digital Nomad Visas are not the same as traditional Work Visas. They can allow temporary residence anywhere from six months to five years.

How long can you stay in Japan on a Digital Nomad Visa?
Those on a Digital Nomad Visa in Japan can only stay in the country for six months, with no extension.
What documents do you need to apply?
- Passport
- Visa application
- Certificate of eligibility (issued by a regional immigration bureau)
- Proof of an annual income that’s JPY 10 million or more ($65,200)
- Documents outlining planned activity during stay
- Proof of insurance while in Japan
Can you bring a spouse or child to Japan on a Digital Nomad Visa?
Yes, so long as they are a citizen of an eligible country. Your spouse/child will need to provide the same documents as 1-5 above, in addition to documents proving your relationship with them and a copy of your passport as the visa holder.
