Tourism in Japan has been booming ever since the country reopened its borders to visitors in 2022. Thus, to combat overtourism in the country’s most popular areas, Japan Airlines is giving out complimentary flights to international travelers wishing to explore more of Japan’s off the beaten path.
This promotion includes free domestic flights anywhere in Japan, so long as it’s through JAL internationally. That includes Japan Airlines’ 133 routes across 64 domestic airports. Think of witnessing volcanic sites in Hokkaido, crossing the Vine Bridge in Tokushima, or exploring Wakayama Castle in Wakayama.
To clarify, international travelers will need to buy their round-trip tickets to Japan via Japan Airlines in addition to a domestic flight in the same reservation. You can do so by booking directly on the Japan Airlines website. Japan Airlines notes that separate bookings for international and domestic flights will not be eligible for this deal.
This promotion is available for travelers coming from:

- Canada
- Mexico

- Brazil
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Singapore

- Philippine
- Indonesia

Due note, U.S., Canada, Mexico, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Dalian, and Tianjin travelers are subject a stopover charge if the first destination stay in Japan is greater than 24 hours.
