Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City is breaking records for what’s deemed to be the world’s largest beachfront indoor waterpark opening right near NYC. And the waterpark’s first phase is set to open this summer!
Helmed by Philadelphia developer, Bart Blastein, ISLAND Waterpark is aiding Showboat’s initiatives to bring more non-casino attractions to the property.
The new year-round waterpark will take over 103,000 square feet. According to the press release, visitors can expect pools, food & beverage outlets, lounge areas, party rooms, and even a lazy river. Additional exciting features include:
- 11 water slides
- 10,300 sq-ft splash pad
- Surf simulator machine
- Largest custom aqua forms in the world
- 30-foot-tall “Indoor Tree House”
- 1,000-foot Cloud Coaster
- State-of-the-art zip line
The waterpark will feature a retractable glass-pane roof to allow guests of ISLAND Waterpark to enjoy the fun all year long, and to bring in a beautiful ocean breeze during the warmer months.
The $100 million project is taking place on the New Jersey Avenue beach block lot right next to Showboat. Philadelphia-based developing company, Tower Investments first broke ground in January 2022.
“We are incredibly excited to begin this next phase in our development,” said Blatstein, owner of Tower Investments. “Atlantic City has a long and rich history as a premier tourist destination. Showboat is committed to bringing non-gaming, family-friendly entertainment back to Atlantic City, and the waterpark is one more piece to that puzzle.”
Moreover, Mayor Small hopes this project will bring jobs and economic recovery to Atlantic City. “We have lacked family entertainment and this waterpark is the catalyst to draw more families to our great city and give families who live here something great and fun to do!”
