In-School Vaccination Sites Will Be Available At All NYC Public Schools For Kids 12+

All children 12+ are eligible to receive the vaccine.

As NYC welcomes students back to school, new safety measures and precautions such as NYC public school employees being required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine have been set in place to ensure the safest return for all students, staff and faculty.

Before school begins on September 13th, The NYC Department of Education encourages all children to get vaccinated if 12 or older and for parents to submit a consent for COVID-19.

In efforts to help make vaccines more accessible to eligible students, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced yesterday in a press conference that “every school that has kids 12 years old and up – that’s over 700 school buildings – will have in-school vaccination sites next week, every single one.”

Nearly two thirds of children in this age range have already received their first dose and now students 12 and up who are not vaccinated or are ready to receive their second dose can do so at school.

These in-school vaccination sites will return to the same 700+ buildings the week of October 4th to provide second doses to students who will be receiving their first dose this coming week.

“Our return to full-time, in-person learning starts with a safe and healthy learning environment for every student and staff member and ensuring students have the tools and support they need to succeed,” shared the NYC Department of Education.

Additionally, all students participating in fall-high risk sports and Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, lacrosse, stunt, and rugby are mandated to get the vaccine prior to the first day of competitive play.

Operating dates: Monday, September 13 – Wednesday, September 15 & Friday, September 17
