Yup, you read that right. A flight that normally takes 8 hours will soon be cut down to only 2. Think of all the things you can do with that extra time!
Boeing recently announced their plans for an airliner that would fly at five times the speed of sound, hitting 3,800 miles per hour at its top speed. Although it is still early on in the process of turning this concept into a reality, Boeing says it could be ready for people to fly in 20 to 30 years. It doesn’t have an official name just yet, but would fly twice as fast as the supersonic Concorde which would fly from NYC to London in under 4 hours.
This hypersonic airliner has potential to be the world’s first—if Aerion Corporation, Lockheed Martin, or Elon Musk don’t beat them to it, that is.
