It’s the first holiday season that Hudson Yards is open and they’re already starting their very own festive tradition!
As part of their new “Shine On” holiday program, Hudson Yards has created an “interactive spectacle” of lights. Called Lyra, the indoor-outdoor installation was inspired by the constellation made up of five bright stars and was created by artist Christopher Schardt.
Each star-shaped sculpture is made up of 12,000 LED lights that are “synchronized to a classical soundtrack evoking the holiday season” to create a stunning show spread throughout the Hudson Yards area. During the show, there will be images that match the music dancing across the massive light displays, which can be seen from below and above each star (in case you’re at the top of the Vessel when it starts!). And since it gets dark rather early in the city around this time of year, the music and light shows begin at 5pm daily.
Adding to the holiday festivities at Hudson Yards is their Wells Fargo Lodge that features hot chocolate sampling, a 360-degree photo booth, holiday selfie cookies, charging station, and games. Wells Fargo is also offering holiday card photos and gift wrapping services at their “Star Stations” on Levels 2 & 4 of The Shops & Restaurants.
