Tonight marks the very first presidential debate between Vice President, Kamala Harris, and former President, Donald Trump, ahead of the November election. It was originally intended to be the second meeting of President Biden and Donald Trump before Biden announced earlier this summer that he was stepping out of the 2024 presidential race.

The presidential debate is happening on Tuesday, September 10th at 9pm ET. The two candidates are coming together for the event in Philadelphia at The National Constitution Center.
This will be the first debate between former President, Donald Trump, and Vice President, Kamala Harris. It’s also the first time the two will meet in person.

What are the new rules of the presidential debate?
- Mics will be muted when it’s not the candidate’s turn to speak
- Candidates cannot ask one another questions
- There is no live audience
- Notes and props are not permitted
- Two minutes will be allotted for rebuttals
There will be no opening statements. Former President Trump will have the closing statement after winning a coin toss, and Vice President Harris will stand on her chosen side at the podium on the right of the screen.
