Multiple wildfires across Los Angeles have caused roughly 40 acres to burn and thousands of people to be displaced since January 7th, 2025.
The combination of wind gusts and insufficient water supplies has created the worst wildfire in Los Angeles history, and one of the worst the state has ever seen. As a result of this horrific disaster, people are wondering how to help fire victims in L.A. We’ve rounded up a few ways to make an impact, even if you’re across the country.
How to help fire victims in Los Angeles
Donate to the Wildfire Recovery Fund
Regardless of the issue — natural disasters, homelessness, immigration — the main goal of the California Community Foundation is to find impactful, lasting solutions. The organization’s Wildlife Recovery Fund is currently accepting donations.
Donate to the Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is an organization residents can turn to for emergency and long-term relief. It is currently accepting donations to support wildfire relief, which will contribute to canteens of emergency food, water, and medical supplies being deployed.
Donate to Best Friends
To ensure the safety of animals in Los Angeles, Best Friends asks that you watch its social media channels for updates about ways to assist. Currently, the organization is asking for people to shop its wishlists, particularly Amazon to purchase the necessary supplies for pets (as noted on Instagram).
Join Books Are Magic’s efforts
Author Emma Straub’s Brooklyn-based bookstore is giving back to the Los Angeles community by launching a fundraiser to support World Central Kitchen. Proceeds of the store’s new t-shirt will also go towards World Central Kitchen. Additionally, Books Are Magic is donating books to those who have been impacted.
Shop For Others
For Others, a clothing brand that works to directly give back to the community, has created Los Angeles hoodies and t-shirts. One hundred percent of proceeds will be given to the LA Food Bank and its partners. Shop the collection online.
Dine at NYC Restaurants Supporting LA
Many local NYC businesses and restaurants are helping out our West Coast colleagues right now, donating proceeds to organizations providing essential resources. Check out some NYC businesses who are supporting LA:
- The Stand: The comedy club is donating a portion of proceeds from their shows to the American Red Cross to support those impacted by the fires and other disasters for the rest of the month. It will also host a special charity show on Thursday, January 16th at 8pm with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross. Learn more here.
- Gotham Burger Social Club: The popular hamburger spot will be serving a special California Dreamin’ Burger on Sunday, January 12th and will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.
- One More Hospitality: Participating bars and venues (Alice, Osteria 57, Traveler’s Poets & Friends and Alaluna) will be adding a new drink to the “Cocktails for a Cause” menu. The ‘Nobel Oak’ bourbon cocktail benefits One Tree Planted, an organization that reforests areas across the globe, by replanting one tree for every bottle sold including in California.
- Slate: The venue will be hosting a Porterhouse Party on January 30th featuring a meat-forward menu, access to Slate’s new golf simulators, Dartsee dart boards, oversized games and DJ. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold and from the night’s bar sales will go to the LA Fire Department Foundation. Learn more here.
- Kancil on the Upper West Side (434 Amsterdam Ave) will donate 50% of the day’s proceeds to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation every Monday from January 13th to March 3rd.
