Located mere steps from the High Line, the “Home of Football” exhibit has completely transformed a stunning gallery space into a futuristic, mint-green paradise dedicated to the world’s biggest game.
Perfect for getting into the spirit of the tournament, or ideal to walkthrough right before heading to a watch party — this limited-time exhibition is one of the city’s most unique activations going on right now.
Here’s what you can expect and every soccer fan needs to experience it before MetLife Stadium’s July 19th World Cup Final.
A rare look at football history
At the core of the experience is HOME AND AWAY, an incredibly rare exhibition curated by the Paris-based arts collective Air Afrique.
For the very first time, the legendary Manzano Heritage Collection is open to the public. This means you can get up close and personal with over 60 match-worn jerseys, historic trophies, and unseen photography that capture the sport’s most iconic moments.
Prepare to be completely starstruck by the artifacts on display. You’ll find absolute treasures like:
- Pelé’s famous 1958 Brazil World Cup jersey.
- Diego Maradona’s legendary 1989 Napoli shirt.
- Lionel Messi’s jersey from his very first World Cup appearance in 2006.
- A dedicated New York Cosmos installation featuring gear from Pelé, Franz Beckenbauer, and Johan Cruyff.
Where sport meets high fashion
The Home of Football isn’t your average museum setup, either.
Designed by Harry Nuriev and Crosby Studios, the entire venue feels like a futuristic pitch bathed in a striking digital green.
The space perfectly fuses the raw energy of sportsmanship with high-end fashion and art.
Beyond the historic memorabilia, the pop-up features a sleek retail concept store powered by SAP.
Here you can snag exclusive Home of Football merchandise alongside a curated selection of fashion and skincare brands making their US debut.
Need a caffeine fix after browsing? Former Real Madrid star and World Cup champion Sami Khedira is hosting a Balira Coffee café pop-up right inside the exhibit, and he’ll even be making surprise appearances throughout the run!
Make it the ultimate World Cup day out
Because the exhibit is located right at High Line 9, it is ridiculously easy to turn your visit into a full-day football celebration.
Once you finish marveling at Maradona’s jersey, you can take a quick stroll over to the Backyard at Hudson Yards.
The plaza is hosting massive public screenings and immersive art installations specifically for the tournament. It is the perfect spot to grab a drink, find a spot by the big screens, and watch the live matches with hundreds of other fans.
There’s also the German House of Soccer in Chelsea happening on West 28th Street where fans of the nation have been congregating on match days!
