What to expect at Home of Football
Running from til July 19th at High Line 9 in Chelsea, the Home of Football is the kind of thing New York rarely gets and almost never keeps for long.
The curation of Air Afrique, the Paris-based French-African collective known for collaborations with MoMA and Nike, combined with Crosby Studios’ Harry Nuriev craft an art installation designed to celebrate a sport that for so many fans, feels like home.
Football, design, and cultural programming. Three worlds that meet in the same room. At a time when going to an actual stadium costs a small fortune, HOF exists to give the sports culture back to the people who love it.
What guests will see at the exhibition
The centerpiece of the experience is an archival exhibit called HOME AND AWAY, where most of what’s on display has never been seen by the public before. Six rooms packed with exclusive originals from the Manzano family archive, regarded as one of the most extensive private football collections in the sports world.
Without spoiling all the treasures inside, here’s some of the never-before-seen gems you’ll be able to see:
Jerseys from legends like Zidane, Benzema, Özil, and the kit that introduced Lamine Yamal to the world in the 2024 Euro Final, which hasn’t been publicly exhibited anywhere else.
Ronaldinho’s shirt, Pelé’s 1958 Brazil kit and the complete Iniesta 2010 World Cup Final ensemble — jersey, shorts, socks, and boots.
The two GOATs: Ronaldo’s 2002 Jersey, Boots & World Cup Trophy & Messi’s 2006 jersey from his first World Cup.
And finally, here lives Maradona. Two Napoli jerseys from 1989 — the centrepiece of the entire exhibition.
