If you’ve longed to live like a Hobbit after reading The Lord of the Rings books or seeing the movies, you can get a taste of a simpler life at this adorable Airbnb in Pawling, in Dutchess County, New York. Hey, who among us hasn’t wanted to add “second breakfast” to our daily routine?
Created by LOTR fans Jodi and Jim, this cozy hideaway is truly one-of-a-kind, mimicking the arched roof of the Hobbit homes that are “traditionally” built into the side of a hill…with every detail in place, even down to the iconic circle door!
This special cottage has two bedrooms with king-sized beds, two bathrooms each with walk in shower, a queen size pull-out couch in living room, and an electric fireplace in living room.
Outside, you can experience beautiful gardens, three different patios, a small waterfall, BBQ, hammocks & fire pits. And one addition that’s not true to the stories, but that we’re definitely not mad about?
A hot tub!
Oh, and you can even ask them to create your very own ring quest to do while visiting! Some things to note: no children under 12 or pets are allowed, and no parties. The house has been met with five stars for all 109 reviews calling it “a marvel of a place,” “a must-stay,” and “is so charming and pull will at the heart of strings of any Tolkien fan.”
Though it may be easier to drive directly there, the house is only a five-minute walk from the village of Pawling, which has a Metro North stop (about a two-hour ride from Grand Central).
