The building currently under construction at 30 Hudson Yards will soon have the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere.
At 1,100-feet high and 765,000 pounds, the deck’s installation has just begun as of Tuesday and will be located on the 92nd floor. According to 6sqft, the steel and glass deck was assembled in Italy, then broken down into 15 sections and shipped to NYC by boat.
The deck will jut out of the building about 65-feet, and will be enclosed by a nine-foot-tall glass wall. There will also be a restaurant and catering company located on that floor so you can enjoy the views while you dine. Jay Cross, the president of Related Companies (one of the building’s developers along with Oxford Properties Group) said in a statement:
“Whether you’re interested in a cocktail, a celebratory dinner, or just want to see what the city looks like from 1,000 feet up in the sky, the Hudson Yards Observation Deck will offer a truly unique New York experience.”
Located along the Hudson River, the skyscraper itself will be a whopping 1,296-feet-tall once completed. The building was designed by architect Kohn Pederson Fox and will be open sometime in 2019.
