Greenport in Bloom is a massive, village-wide festival happening throughout the entire month of May. You can find more than 300 cherry blossom trees across seven distinct varieties.
Because the different varieties bloom in stages, you are guaranteed a stunning show no matter when you visit during the month!
Here is everything you can expect from this pink paradise.
The Digital Petal Tour
You can explore the blooms at your own pace using the festival’s digital Petal Tour map.
It will guide you to the most beautiful floral spots around the village.
Along the way, participating local businesses will be unveiling blossom-themed window displays and offering exclusive seasonal treats.
A Month of Spring Programming
Nature dictates the bloom, but the AgroCouncil has packed all five weekends in May with incredible community events.

- Opening Weekend (May 2): Kick things off with a 9:00 AM 5K Race. After you cross the finish line, you can celebrate with an opening day brunch at the American Beech Restaurant.
- Mother’s Day Weekend (May 8-9): Treat mom to a beautiful guided walking Petal Tour on Saturday, May 8. Longtime Tree Committee member John Quinlan will lead the way, and select trees along the route will be decorated with festive pink ribbons.
- Kite Decorating (May 15): The Floyd Memorial Library is hosting a free “Stories in the Sky” event from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Kids can decorate paper kites with traditional Japanese messages (Sakura no kotaba) and learn to fly them in the library garden.
- Memorial Day Weekend: Stroll through the village to check out exclusive festival vendor offerings and local marketplace pop-ups.
- Closing Celebration (May 30): The festival concludes with an epic cultural performance. The Ryu Shu Kan Japanese Art Center will host a live Taiko drumming demonstration at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at 2:30 PM.
It is the perfect excuse to unplug, take a scenic train ride, and welcome the warmer weather!
