New York City’s beloved car-free program is back, and it’s bringing a vibrant green oasis right to Midtown. The Grand Lawn at Summer Streets is officially returning to Grand Central Terminal for its third year.
If you are looking for the ultimate weekend rest stop, this is it. As part of the Summer Streets Program, the city is opening over 20 miles of corridors strictly for pedestrians and cyclists.
Free fitness and live music
Taking place on the first three Saturdays in August (8/1, 8/8, and 8/15), this lively outdoor space will be packed with complimentary activities.
You can kick off your morning with free fitness programming, featuring high-energy HIT Boxing and DanceBody classes offered each weekend. After you break a sweat, you can cool down with free classic lawn games.
The space will also feature a vibrant atmosphere of all-day live entertainment. Expect to hear DJ sets from Luna Rosa and Honey Bun, alongside live performances by Riz La Vie, Kids That Fly, and more.
Delicious treats and giveaways
It wouldn’t be a proper NYC celebration without incredible food. You can easily refuel with tasty treats courtesy of Grand Central favorites, including Shake Shack, Joe Coffee, Doughnut Plant, Cafe Grumpy, Bien Cuit, and Wonderen Stroopwafels.
