The reigning two-time NWSL champions are officially trading New Jersey for The World’s Borough.
Starting in 2028, Gotham FC will play all their home matches right here in Queens at Etihad Park, New York City’s very first soccer-specific stadium.
For years, die-hard supporters of women’s soccer have trekked across the Hudson River to watch home games in Harrison, New Jersey.
This historic partnership between Gotham FC and New York City FC brings the women’s game into the heart of the five boroughs, giving one of the world’s most elite club teams the permanent NYC home they truly deserve.
A game-changer for local soccer fans
Getting to matchday is about to become significantly easier for millions of New Yorkers!
Because Etihad Park is rising right next to Citi Field in the rapidly growing Willets Point sports corridor, it sits just steps away from the Mets-Willets Point transit hub.
That means you can easily get to games via the 7 train, the LIRR, and local MTA buses.
Club leadership pointed out that the Queens location connects Gotham FC to over three million additional people within a 75-minute transit ride.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani summed up the excitement during the announcement by highlighting what this means for local kids, noting that young athletes from Jackson Heights to the South Bronx can now simply hop on the subway after school to watch global superstars go to work.

Inside Etihad Park: what to expect on matchday
When Etihad Park opens its doors in spring 2027, it will serve as the home field for both NYCFC (starting in July 2027) and Gotham FC (starting in 2028), while also hosting major international events like the 2028 Olympic soccer tournaments.
The 25,000-seat stadium is being built with a massive focus on fan experience and local culture. Here are a few of the coolest features we can expect when the gates open:
- The Five Boroughs Food Hall: Forget generic stadium snacks. This food hall will spotlight local small businesses serving up authentic cuisines representing every single borough.
- The Supporters Porch: A massive 9,000-square-foot outdoor hang-out zone equipped with a dedicated tap bar, food vendors, and a 400-square-foot LED display to get the energy going before kickoff.
- The Cube: A stunning seven-story LED gateway that will light up to welcome fans into the venue.
- Dedicated Gotham Spaces: The stadium isn’t just a rental. Gotham FC will have custom-built infrastructure, including their own state-of-the-art locker room and personalized matchday digital branding throughout the bowl.
- Green & Union-Built: The venue is making history as the country’s first fully electric outdoor sports stadium, and it is being built 100% by local union labor.
