Set sail for the tropics–or at least feel like you have–as SoHo’s tropical outdoor bar and restaurant Gilligan’s officially reopens for the season on Wednesday, May 1st.
Gilligan’s is the city’s must-visit destination for the warmer months in New York. The 4,000-square-foot space is filled with wood planks, white bamboo, and lots of lush, tropical plants–of course, including swaying palm trees–bringing a taste of the tropics straight to downtown Manhattan.
Their famous Watermelon Margaritas don’t even need an introduction, and are the most mouthwatering and refreshing combination of tequila, fresh watermelon, Combier, and lime. But beyond those they also serve Frozen Pina Colada-Limoncellos, made with white rum, lemon, pineapple, and coconut.
Wine, beer, and cider are also offered.
Fresh produce and seafood sourced from Long Island’s best fishermen compliment the drinks perfectly.
Menu highlights include Lobster Cobb Salad, made with baby romaine, marinated heirloom tomatoes, crisp pancetta, soft-boiled egg, avocado dressing, roasted corn, and poached lobster, Roasted Corn Ribs, spiced and served with crumbled feta, chili mayo, and shaved scallions, and Roasted Branzino topped with fresh shaved fennel, parsley leaf, orange, and citrus dressing.
The annual re-opening of Gilligan’s is the ultimate sign of summertime for New Yorkers.
The perfect escape from the rush of the city, grab a drink and cool off beneath swaying palm trees in their enormous outdoor space that serves as the perfect summer oasis.
