Sure we’ve seen hidden lairs behind bookshelves and secret passageways through mysterious doors in the movies, but all of that covertness isn’t too far off from reality at FREVO in NYC.
FREVO is a contemporary restaurant focused on French technique that’s concealed behind an unassuming art gallery in the Village.
Behind one singular painting, lies an entirely secretive fine dining establishment, hidden from all of the hustle and bustle and knowledge of many.
Helmed by Brazilian Chef Franco Sampogna, the mastermind is serving up unforgettable creations from White Miso Salmon to Ossetra Caviar. And what’s all the extravagance without a wine pairing? Make sure to add that onto your reservation and enjoy a carefully selected array of fine wines to compliment each course.
But in order to taste these tantalizing offerings you must know your way to the correct painting that doubles as the restaurant’s secret entrance. Currently, five works of Thomas Labarthe, aka TOMA-L, shield entry. Once you find the canvas that swings open, you’ll step inside an “urban oasis” so enthralling you won’t even want to share your discovery with others!
Take in the intimate atmosphere as you get seated at the dimly lit, open kitchen counter, or at the exclusive Chef’s table in the back corner.
Interact with FREVO’s exquisite crew while you indulge in the magic of the restaurant that “truly embodies the city’s spirit as a melting pot of different cultures with an international, young, and dynamic team paired with contemporary dishes.”
FREVO supports the philosophies of sustainability, locality, and seasonality. With every detail in mind, FREVO went on to receive an A-from international food critic Alexander Lobrano, only months after opening in 2019, and was later awarded a Michelin Plate from the Michelin Guide.
Keep in mind that FREVO cannot accommodate vegetarian, vegan, seafood-free, fish-free or lactose-free diets, unless due notice is given for single product restrictions.
