Sick of sitting indoors and staring at your phone? Fear not! Soon you’ll be able to sit and stare at your phone on the beach or at the park!
The Park’s department announced on Tuesday that they, along with AT&T, will be expanding their free Wi-Fi program to a further 21 NY parks across all five boroughs for five years. In total, free Wi-Fi will be available at 27 locations in 21 parks. Over 8.6 million people have connected through the current available Wi-Fi since the program launched in 2011 and with the new plans this number should increase dramatically.
The plan includes an increase in the number of free solar powered charging stations to 34 at 15 parks across the city. Four new parks in the city will get the charging units, Joyce Kilmer Park in the Bronx, Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, and Sunset and Prospect parks in Brookyn.
