Coming from Brazilian company, Rentbrella, free umbrella rentals are available all across NYC!
The company was first established in 2018 and has recently expanded into NYC. With umbrella rental stations in tons of major cities worldwide, Rentbrella is making rainy days a little less gloomy for everyone.
More than 35 stations are already setup in Manhattan—so you can forget about your annual purchase off the side of the street every time it unexpectedly rains. According to the New York Post, Rentbrella “says it will do for umbrellas what Citi Bike did for bicycles.”
So instead of needing your pesky roommate to nag you about leaving the apartment with your umbrella in case it rains, you get to enjoy a more comfortable commute with security that Rentbrella has you covered—quite literally.
The umbrella you take out is free for the first 24 hours. After the days up, you will be charged $2 for the second and third day you don’t return it to a station, and $16 after that, in which case the umbrella is yours.
To get started, first download their app.
They break down how to rent one in four easy:
1. Open the app to locate the nearest station
2. Unlock an umbrella by tapping “I want an umbrella” & scan the station’s QR code
3. Protect yourself from UV rays and rain
4. Return the umbrella to the nearest machine
So the next time you’re stuck in the rain, just find a station near you and let Rentbrella save the day!
