Hello Kitty has traded her art gallery days for the pop-up spotlight. The iconic white kitten, along with her friends, has taken over Queens’ Tangram Mall for a free, limited-time event that drew thousands on opening day–because yes, Hello Kitty really is that girl.
The Hello Kitty & Friends pop-up is a three-week extravaganza brought to you by MINISO, the global lifestyle retailer behind the event.
MINISO, a popular China-based lifestyle brand, is known for its trendy, affordable, and ultra-kawaii (cute) goods–from plushies and stationery to cosmetics and electronics. The retailer has a track record of pop-up hits, including Chiikawa and One Piece, which previously took over Tangram Mall.

Visitors can browse over 500 Hello Kitty items, including exclusive bows, blind boxes, plushies, stationery, and more. It’s more than a shopping spree–it’s a full-on dopamine boost for fans of cute culture.
Opening weekend brought crowds in the thousands, and the excitement is only expected to grow.
While you’re there, don’t miss Tangram Mall’s hoi polloi, a cyberpunk-inspired Asian food hall and beer garden.
