After 10,000 dancers take over Manhattan’s streets for the 20th Annual Dance Parade, the celebration doesn’t just end. The energy moves straight into Tompkins Square Park for DanceFest, a massive post-parade festival.
Whether you want to sit back and watch incredible choreography or learn a few new moves yourself, this is exactly where you want to be.

Five stages of nonstop entertainment
DanceFest will run from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The beloved park will be totally transformed into a vibrant world of movement, featuring five different performance stages.
Organizers are expecting around 11,000 attendees to gather and celebrate.

The festival will feature 450 performers showcasing 40 different types of dances. You can expect everything from curated on-stage routines to breathtaking aerial performances.
From a dedicated Main Stage to a vibrant Community Stage, the variety is going to be unmatched. The best part? The entire four-hour event is completely free to the public.
Free lessons and interactive booths
You don’t need to be a professional dancer to join the fun. The festival is designed to be highly interactive.
Throughout the afternoon, there will be eight different dance workshops and lessons. You can jump right in and enjoy free dance lessons from some of the city’s absolute best teachers.

If you want to dive deeper into the culture of movement, you can explore the “Experience Dance Booths” scattered around the park.
There will also be a dedicated social dance area, kids’ activities, and massive dance parties. You can literally dance the afternoon away with your neighbors.
Celebrating a legacy of expression
This year’s festival is about much more than just a good time. The theme is “The Beat Goes On,” honoring a massive 20-year legacy of civic advocacy.
For two decades, organizers have fought to protect social dancing as a First Amendment right. They even helped spearhead the historic 2017 repeal of NYC’s restrictive Cabaret Law. This weekend is a celebration of that hard-won freedom.
Grab your friends, wear comfortable shoes, and spend your Saturday afternoon celebrating the true heartbeat of New York City.
