NYC’s First & Only Floating Mexican Restaurant Is Now Open On The Hudson

All aboard for some tequila and Mexican-inspired street food!

As of May 20, La Barca Cantina will be offering Mexican fare and delicious cocktails afloat! Hop on board the three-story boat at Pier 81 on the Hudson River and sail around the city for incredible skyline and sunset views with New York Cruise Lines.

The boat offers custom artwork by Tlisza Jaurique, the first Mexican-American woman to exhibit at the Met, an incredible top deck for guests to take in the scenery, and most notably, an expansive agave-based spirits menu.

Craig Kanarick, Chief Executive Officer of New York Cruise Lines, was inspired by his travels to Mexico to create this perfect summer destination. “Having spent the last three years learning everything I possibly can about agave-based spirits, including mezcal and tequila, it’s a thrill to cast a spotlight on a beverage category that is just as diverse and terroir-driven, yet not as well-known, as wine. We are so excited to bring this culture to life this summer on the Hudson River,” said Kanarick.

Make sure to try the house cocktail “The Drunken Rabbit” made with Oaxacan rum and a secret recipe involving exotic ingredients and passion fruit. Or try a more traditional tequila drink called a “Bandera” (flag in Spanish) that is served in three-parts: one shot of tequila, one shot of lime juice, and one shot of sangrita (spicy tomato juice).

Their food menu includes chicken, shrimp, el pastor, and Tony’s Campechano tacos made with beef, pork, and roasted scallions that pays tribute to Tacos Tony, a popular taco destination in Mexico City.

Or if you’re really hungry, order the Fiesta Platter complete with a whole Mexican fried chicken, onion rings, jalapeño poppers and corn chips, along with a large selection of salsas.
