If you’re so broke that you can’t even afford your Netflix anymore (or your parents changed the password and kicked you off their account) you might want to check out some free movie screenings. We put together a list of films this upcoming week, courtesy of our favorite event discovery app, Fever.
1. Spaceballs
August is sci-fi movie month at Huckleberry Bar, and Spaceballs is showing this Monday the 24th. Everyone who comes gets free popcorn, and you can take advantage of drink specials all night.
2. Back to the Future
This Monday the 24th you can watch this classic with Michael J. Fox in Bryant Park. Even if you’ve seen it a dozen times, you know you want to see it again. And if you’ve never seen it before, here’s your chance!
3. Fame
Long before High School Musical came along, Fame reinvented the movie musical by tapping into the energy of New York City’s High School of Performing Arts. This 80’s flick showing on Tuesday the 25th is part of the Central Park Film Festival.
4. E.T.
Citi Bike is celebrating biking by showing E.T. on Tuesday the 25th. You aren’t required to cry, but your friends will definitely all judge you if you don’t.
5. The Blues Brothers
The next 1980’s film in the Central Park line-up is The Blues Brothers, on Wednesday the 26th. Costumes might be impractical because it will be too dark to watch a film with sunglasses on. But be sure to take notes for next Halloween.
