The Michelin Guide ceremony night is always one to look forward to for those in the culinary scene, and it was certainly a big night for us New Yorkers in general!
Jungsik Yim’s namesake restaurant Jungsik in Tribeca won three Michelin stars, becoming the first Korean restaurant in the U.S. to do so. Moreover, Jungsik was the only awardee of the night to gain three stars for the first time. The guide praised Jungsik for its “polished and creative dishes like crisped octopus with gochujang aioli and dry-aged Arctic char in a pool of kimchi and red curry sauce.”
As one of our own favorite Korean restaurants in NYC, we love Executive Chef Daeik Kim’s modern and unique understanding of contemporary Korean cuisine. Kim’s Signature Menu will run you $295, but it’s certainly worth it once you sink your teeth into stunning dishes like the Sea Urchin Bibimbap and Wagyu Gomtang Mandoo.
The guide added:
This dining room bears that perfectly downtown nexus of low-key yet elegant…[the] meal starts like many do, with an array of banchan; however, the presentation here is unlike any other; and it’s just that creativity that makes dining here so distinctive….This is cooking that is highly original, impeccably executed, and enormously satisfying.
Beyond Jungsik, 12 other NYC eateries received Michelin star awards. They’re as follows:
- César – 2 stars
- Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare – 2 stars

Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of the Michelin Guides, stated:
