The Jazz Age Lawn Party has become a staple part of summer in New York City. This year, the party is happening on multiple days; June 16 and 17 as well as August 25 and 26.
The prohibition era celebration that started out in 2005 as a small gathering of 1920’s aficionados has been transformed over the years into one of the city’s most loved parties. Now in it’s 13th year, this gathering worth of Gatsby kicks of at 11am and features dance lessons, parades, pie contests, magic shows and old school vintage vendors. To top it all off, as this year’s celebration falls on Father’s Day, all the dads who participate in the Children’s Parade will receive special prizes.
The party takes place on Governor’s Island and you can still get your tickets to the event. Artistic performances this year will feature the world’s premier Jazz Band, Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra as well as a list of others.
Of course, a range of food and refreshing drinks will be available for purchase for when you finish dancing the Charleston and hitting the lawn croquet.
