As people stock up at grocery stores so they have enough food while self-quarantining, lots of shelves have been quickly clearing out.
While what’s gone is obvious (canned goods, pasta, bread and milk), what’s left is even more telling (and hilarious), especially in NYC.
So, we looked at our own grocery store (in Queens) and on social media to see what New Yorkers were still leaving on the shelves, even while in crisis…
1. So. Many. Lasagne Noodles.
We’ve heard about this around all the boroughs!
And no one’s messing with whole grain pasta.
2. Oh, and chickpea pasta.
3. Pinto Beans?
I guess everyone at Chipotle chooses black beans when they order? Who knew?
4. The lentils are gone, but the baby lima beans are here.
5. Desperate, but not desperate enough to eat “Cheddar Cheese”-flavored Ramen.
6. And yes, if you shop at Trader Joe’s, no one’s buying the Chocolate Hummus.
Now’s a good time for Trader Joe’s to assess what sells and what doesn’t #TraderJoes when these two stacks of chocolate hummus and Buffalo hummus are the ONLY things left in the store… 💁♂️ pic.twitter.com/27AhbKJBVo

7. Oh, or those expensive carrot juices
8. The last of the jarred pasta sauce: Butternut Squash

9. For some reason, French Onion soup is the only kind left?
Shockingly, the New England Clam Chowder went first!
10. Lettuce
Let it be known: salad is nobody’s comfort food.
