Mark your calendars, trainers!
On February 27, 2024, the Empire State Building will light up in blue and yellow to celebrate Pokémon Day and the upcoming U.S. premiere of Netflix’s upcoming Pokemon series.
The skyscraper will illuminate its tower lights between sunset and 2 a.m. EST, inspired by the iconic Pokémon logo.

Completing Timed Research tasks will earn players various rewards, including Incense, Lure Modules, and an encounter with Pikachu wearing a party hat, as well as interacting with additional themed PokéStops.
If you can’t make it to the Empire State Building in person, you can still participate in the fun! Tune in to the Empire State Building on TikTok, Instagram, X, and Facebook for a special appearance by Captain Pikachu, one of the stars of Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
Captain Pikachu will explore the world-famous Observatory before embarking on new adventures in the animated series on Netflix.
To celebrate Pokémon Day, TPCi will donate $10,000 to The Toy Foundation™, a New York-based charity dedicated to providing the benefits of play to children in need.
Pokémon Day 2024 marks the brand’s 28th anniversary since the first Pokémon video games, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, launched in Japan on Feb. 27, 1996, kicking off a global phenomenon that catapulted Pokémon into one of the most popular and successful entertainment franchises in the world. Since then, the community of global Pokémon fans — known as Trainers — comes together annually to celebrate their love for the brand on Pokémon Day.
