For the devoted New Yorkers who drink their coffee iced year-round regardless of how frigid it is outside, relief is coming for your fingers. This Friday, February 20th, Dunkin’ is giving away free iced coffee mittens. Random? Yes. Hilarious? For sure. Practical? Absolutely.
On Friday, February 20th, participating Dunkin’ locations will give away mittens to customers who purchase any iced beverage after 10 am.
The mittens are in signature Dunkin’ hot pink, feature the chain’s logo, and appear to be fully insulated with a strap to tighten to your hand. Lefties may have some issues as only left mittens are being distributed, but one cold hand is better than two if you ask us. The company stated:
At Dunkin’, we’ve got a soft spot for the guests who love their iced coffee no matter what the weather’s doing. This winter, we’re making it a little warmer to keep sipping. From snowy sidewalks to early morning coffee runs, this glove is a playful badge of honor for the Team Iced faithful all year round.
Naturally, people have opinions–especially about the fact that only left mittens are being handed out. One commenter said, “I need a set, I have two hands🙂,” while another asked, “What am I gonna do with one mitten?” The explanation? The drive-thru is designed so you grab your drink with your left hand–hence, the left mitten.
Others suggest drink koozies would make much more sense.
Still, most are excited by the novelty of it, commenting things like “Idk why but I want this lol,” I’ll gladly take it! So cute! 💖,” and “Can’t wait! 💕”
Whether you’re right-handed, a frequent drive-thru orderer, or just love yourself a freebie, those interested in the collectible keepsake should head to their local Dunkin’ at 10 am on Friday, February 20th…or maybe a bit earlier–Dunkin’ says the mittens will only be available while supplies last, but The Freebie Guy stated on Instagram that only the first 20 or so customers will receive one.
