In Dune: Part Three—the eagerly awaited Denis Villeneuve sequel—fans will finally return to the sands of Arrakis, following the epic aftermath of Paul Atreides’ holy war.
Inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, the story delves into the emperor’s struggles with the intricate conspiracies of the Bene Gesserit, the Tleilaxu, and his wife Irulan. As Herbert wrote, “You may have eternity. I have only now.”
And for audiences, the now is almost here.
Though it might feel like an eternity since the last installment, Dune: Part Three’s arrival is on its way, heading our way on December 18th, courtesy of Warner Bros. and Legendary.
But for those seeking the ultimate experience, the countdown is already underway.
For a film of this scale and visual grandeur, there’s no substitute for seeing it as if you’ve been transported straight onto Arrakis.
The best way to do that? IMAX 70mm screenings, which deliver an unparalleled depth and richness that can make sand, spice, and desert storms feel tactile.
Earlier this week, tickets went on sale for the opening weekend 70mm screenings, running December 17–20 at 7 p.m. local time, one showing per day per theater. The initial rollout included 19 locations: Los Angeles (4 theaters), San Francisco (2), London, Vancouver, New York, Dallas, Miami, and several other major cities.
These screenings, which run December 17th–20th at 7 p.m. with one showing per day, are an unreal way to experience Villeneuve’s stunning visuals. And in New York, our very own AMC Lincoln Square is at the heart of that experience.
As expected, the tickets sold out almost immediately, but the original post states that fans can “Sign up for ticket alerts” at http://imax.com/dune70mm to be notified as soon as more showtimes are added, which seems to signify that more tickets and screenings are on the way.
Each purchase also included a collectible film strip keepsake.
The film continues the saga of Emperor Paul Atreides, navigating the fallout of his holy war while contending with conspiracies from the Bene Gesserit, the Tleilaxu, and his wife Irulan.
Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rebecca Ferguson, and Jason Momoa all return, bringing Villeneuve’s breathtaking vision of Herbert’s universe to life.
Though the wait may feel long, the promise of being immersed in Villeneuve’s vision of Arrakis ensures that the “now” Herbert spoke of will be unforgettable.
