A discrete shop in the East Village near Cooper Union sells what could be, the best dumplings in Manhattan.
The Dumpling Shop is a casual restaurant that focuses primarily on creating traditional Asian dumplings with an international flair. New exciting flavors might have dumpling purists up in arms, but for those you who enjoy experimenting with new flavors and fusion cuisine, this could easily become a new favorite.
The restaurant opened in September of this year and serves a combination of dumplings and noodles with a focus on making interesting and unique specialty dumplings. Think flavors like Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Thai Green Curry Shrimp and our personal favorite, the Buffalo Chicken.
The noodles and sides are also pretty great, especially the Braised Pork Belly Bun and the Spicy Dan Dan Noodles.
They recently debuted a new chef’s special: the Chicken Tikka Masala Dumpling with a Mint-Cilantro Yogurt Chutney.
Their lunch special, which comes in under $15, includes your choice of dumplings, noodles, and a drink. They also deliver on GrubHub and Seamless for those nights you just want to stay on the couch with some comfort food and Netflix.
It’s a dumpling dream come true for us.
