Summer is officially here, and if you’re looking for the perfect little escape out of NYC, we’ve got just the idea! A drive-in movie! Sure, there are plenty of great movie theaters in NYC, but nothing beats cozying up in the car and watching it on a big screen. Whether you’re looking for the perfect little day trip or want to go see the newest flick Upstate in a cool way, we’ve put together a list of some drive-in movie theaters near NYC to bookmark for the upcoming months.
Just don’t forget the popcorn!
1. Skyline Drive-In NYC
Skyline Drive-In is in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, at 1 Oak Street to be precise. The prime spot sits directly on the East River waterfront, with stunning views of the Manhattan skyline. It’s also even a popular photo and filming location (so you know it’s gorgeous!). They’re also hoping to add walk-in seating and bicycles soon so you don’t even need a car to enjoy.
They plan on having NYC food trucks at their showings, so you can grab a bite while catching a flick. You can always bring your own food as well.

2. Fair Oaks Drive-In Theatre, Middletown, NY
Fair Oaks has 2 different movie screens which play a variety of current blockbusters and past cinema too. Just an hour outside of NYC in Middletown, NY, they’re doing double features (one on each screen) all summer long with some of the titles including the brand new Inside Out 2 and oldies like JAWS, plus a whole lot more. 3. Warwick Drive-In, Warwick, NY
If you can’t snag tickets to some of these pop-up drive-in movie theaters, there is an actual drive-in move theater in Warwick, New York, just past the northern border of New Jersey. Google Maps says the drive will take about an hour and fifteen minutes from NYC. Warwick Drive-In, which was built in 1950 and has a rich history as a family business throughout all its opening years.

4. Overlook Drive-In: Poughkeepsie, NY
This drive-in has been family owned and operated since 1955, and can fit up to 750 cars. Their ticket booth opens one hour before the scheduled showtime of the first movie (you get two movies for the price of one). They do accept debit/credit cards in their full service Snack Bar–which has hot dogs and funnel cake!
