Downward dog is about to get literal. Sugarlift in Bushwick is hosting a dog yoga class Saturday March 26th. The class will be led by yoga instructor and dog lover Anna Farkis. She demonstrated what dog yoga looks like for AM New York, using a miniature dachshund.
The benefits of yoga for humans are extensive: stronger muscles, greater flexibility, healthier heart, reduced stress—the list goes on. And as it turns out, yoga can also be beneficial for dogs. The dogs feel relaxed and receive plenty of love and affection from their owners during the yoga class.
Dogs of all sizes will be welcome at the yoga class at Sugarlift. But if your dog does not get along well with other dogs or humans, dog yoga is probably not a good idea. Tickets for the event are $60 and can be reserved here, and 20 percent of the proceeds will go to the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition.
