Get ready to see a sea of New Yorkers dressed head-to-toe in white once again, as the legendary Dîner en Blanc has announced its return to NYC on Thursday, September 26th!
This French-inspired, pop-up dinner party made its US debut in NYC a decade ago which jumpstarted a global phenomenon. This year over 75 cities in 16 countries will host Le Dîner en Blanc–it’ll pop up in 42 cities in the U.S. alone–and this September they’re bringing the party back to NYC once again for their twelfth year!
Previously gathering together thousands of people to iconic NYC locations such as Lincoln Center, Brookfield Place, and Bryant Park, they always keep an air of mystery around their location until the very last minute to preserve excitement and secrecy. So while the dinner party itself isn’t a secret, there are some secrets surrounding it!
Attendees are asked to wear their finest white attire (originality encouraged as long as it’s stylish and tasteful) and bring with them a folding table, two white chairs, and a white tablecloth.
You’ll be asked to meet at an assigned departure location, kept undisclosed until the last minute, where a volunteer will then escort you to your destination.
You can choose to pack your own picnic basket with fine food and proper stemware and dinnerware, or reserve a catered one in advance from Le Dîner en Blanc’s website.
As bringing your own alcohol is prohibited, guests can choose to also reserve wine or champagne in advance if they wish.
This elegant soirée will treat guests to a night of celebration with live music and dancing complete with festive white balloons.
The waving of thousands of cloth napkins mark the beginning of the dinner, while the lighting of sparklers let guests know they are now free to mingle.
To be part of the celebrations, you can sign up now by visiting Le Dîner en Blanc’s website and clicking on the Register tab.
However, a beloved tradition across 6 continents, more than two million people are on waiting lists worldwide, hoping to attend events that frequently sell out in a matter of days if not hours–so you may need luck on your side to get the invitation!
