Gremlins

The shopkeeper reluctantly sells him a “mogwai” with a warning to never expose him to bright light, water, nor feed him after midnight. Chaos ensues as the shopkeepers rules are broken in the Christmas classic.

It’s a Wonderful Life

What Christmas movie schedule would be complete without this (and the next on our list). This homage to small-town values and the ordinary guy who does the right thing is a classic story of redemption and second chances. Try not to choke up at this good-will fueled Christmas movie must, we dare you.
Miracle on 34th Street

If you’re looking for a full on jolt of Christmas spirit, you can’t go wrong with “Miracle on 34th Street.” A Macy’s department store Santa is on trial to prove his sanity, and in fact try and show the world that he is the real Saint Nick. Packing some comedy along with it’s seasonal feels, this movie will infect the most stoic of people with the Christmas bug.
Die Hard

Yippee ki-yay mother… *ahem* nature. If you’re searching for some high octane thrills to go with that eggnog this is the movie for you. NYC cop John McClane finds himself in LA to reconnect with his estranged wife. Enter one of cinema’s most enigmatic villains, Hanz Gruber (Alan Rickman). This iconic hard-R action rollercoaster should be on your Xmas movie list anyway! Why not see it in the cinema?

Just in case you didn’t think kids were terrifying enough, Macaulay Culkin takes it to the next level. When Kevin’s parents forgot to take him on their Christmas Vacation (and you thought your parents were bad) he has to protect himself, and his house, from a pair of bumbling thieves. This movie is as heavy on the slapstick as it is holiday spirit.
Eyes Wide Shut

If you like your Christmas movies with a dash of orgy, Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut” might tick all the right boxes for you. Granted, “Eyes Wide Shut” has only a tenuous link to Christmas, a few Xmas trees and a toy store, but it is technically a Christmas movie. But be warned, this probable isn’t the kind of Christmas movie you want to watch with your folks.
Elf

If this election hasn’t satisfied your need to see a grown man act like a child, then Will Ferrell in “Elf” might just scratch that itch. This comedy sees Buddy the elf searching for his dad in NYC, but not only will it make you laugh, there’s plenty of heart. This modern Christmas movie was an instant classic, and it will be for many years to come.
