Jetzt, wo der Winter in voller Blüte steht und 5 bis 8 Zentimeter Schnee auf NYC fallen – mit dem Potenzial, der größte Schneesturm seit zwei Jahren zu werden – sind wir bereit, ihn mit Schlittenfahren zu nutzen!
Das ist eine unserer Lieblingsaktivitäten im Winter, und die Parks und Hügel von NYC sind der perfekte Ort, um stundenlang Spaß zu haben. Schneetage gibt es nur einmal in einer Weile… also hier sind die Orte, an denen Sie Ihre Schläuche und Schlitten auspacken können:
1. Prospect Park
Im Prospect Park gibt es viele Hügel und Stellen zum Schlittenfahren, vor allem Long Meadow, eine fast eine Meile lange, ununterbrochene Wiese! Außerdem gibt es The Nethermead, eine hügelige Wiese in der Nähe des Zentrums des Parks, die ebenfalls perfekt ist!

2. Fort Greene Park
Dieser Park in Clinton Hill verfügt über vier Hügel zum Schlittenfahren, die alle unterschiedlich steil sind. Es gibt sanftere Hänge für die Jüngsten und steilere für die älteren New Yorker, die ihr inneres Kind wiederentdecken wollen!
Wo: Zwischen Myrtle Ave. und De Kalb Ave. zwischen. Washington Park und St. Edward’s St.
3. Zentraler Park
Die beliebtesten Plätze in NYCs berühmtestem Park sind wahrscheinlich Pilgrim Hill (in der Nähe der 72nd Street & Fifth Avenue, südlich des Conservatory Water) und die Bethesda Foundation Steps (mit Blick auf das Südufer des Sees)! Außerdem gibt es den Cedar Hill auf der East Side zwischen der 76. und 79.

4. Federal Hall Steps
Apropos Treppe: Wenn Sie keinen Hügel in Ihrer Nähe finden, kann auch eine riesige Treppe helfen! Aus diesem Grund sind die Bethesda Steps so beliebt, und wahrscheinlich werden Sie auch einige New Yorker dabei erwischen, wie sie die Stufen der Federal Hall in der Wall Street hinunterrutschen. Wenn Sie stürzen, gibt es allerdings nicht so viel Dämpfung!

5. Astoria-Park
Dieser Park bietet einen herrlichen Blick auf den East River, die Hell’s Gate Bridge und die Skyline von Midtown East, während Sie die sanften Hänge hinuntergleiten. Am südlichen Rand des Parks gibt es einen riesigen Hügel, den wir Ihnen ans Herz legen!
Wo: 19 Street zwischen Shore Boulevard und Ditmars Boulevard
6. Riverside Park
Der wichtigste Rodelhügel im Riverside Park befindet sich in der Nähe des Riverside Drive an der 103rd Street. Es gibt auch einen noch steileren Hügel 2 Blocks weiter, an der 108. Straße. Wenn Sie sich etwas weiter südlich befinden, können Sie am Hippo Playground vorbeischauen, wo Sie sowohl rodeln als auch auf dem winterlichen Klettergerüst spielen können.

7. Carl-Schurz-Park
In diesem Park an der Upper East Side können Sie am besten auf der 89th Street, der Rasenfläche nördlich der Gracie Mansion, direkt an der East End Avenue, rodeln.
Wo: Von East End Av bis East River, E 84 St bis E 90 St
8. Wald-Park
Der beste Hügel in diesem über 500 Hektar großen Park in Queens befindet sich auf dem Mary Whelan Playground an der 79th Street und Park Lane South. Außerdem ist der ausgewiesene Schlittenhügel am Golfplatz ein großartiger Ort für Familienspaß bei winterlichem Wetter.

9. Roosevelt-Insel
Wo: East River, mit der U-Bahn (F-Zug), der Roosevelt Island Tram von der 59th St. oder der NYC Ferry
Was man wissen sollte: Zwischen der East Side von Manhattan und Long Island City gelegen, verfügt Roosevelt Island über zwei weitläufige Parks auf beiden Seiten der Insel, die für alle Schneetage geeignet sind. Die Einheimischen schlittern gerne die Hügel des Cornell Tech Campus in der Mitte der Insel hinunter und haben dabei einen tollen Blick auf die Queensboro Bridge.
10. Battery Park
Die Hügel hier sind ziemlich zahm, aber die besten sind im Teardrop Park zu finden (perfekt für die Kleinen)!
