One of the most anticipated features of Central Park’s $160 million Davis Center glow-up is undoubtedly the pool.
Replacing the outdated Lasker Rink, the new Gottesman Pool is sure to be summer 2025’s hottest attraction, so grab your towels, goggles, and SPF.
“Swimming and skating outdoors in Central Park are special, unmatched experiences,” Alice Gottesman said in a statement. “The new Davis Center at the Harlem Meer will make these opportunities accessible to so many more New Yorkers.”

All about the Davis Center Pool, Gottesman Pool
Opening for the first time this week on Friday, June 27th — just like the other public pools in NYC — Gottesman Pool is breathing new life into a part of the park that’s beloved, but was certainly in need of some TLC.
“The opening of the Davis Center at the Harlem Meer is the result of years of listening, collaboration and bold belief in what this space could become,” said Betsy Smith, President and CEO of the Central Park Conservancy. “What once was a beloved but aging facility is now a beautiful, welcoming place that celebrates Central Park and welcomes New Yorkers to swim, skate, learn and connect – all year round.”
After years in the making, the facility will now welcome all ages for a dip and participate in the citywide NYC Parks Learn to Swim lottery , so your little fish can master their backstroke, butterfly, and beyond.
What’s more, the Davis Center not only offers a chance to take a dip this summer. It’s a chance to enjoy an escape into nature, low-cost ways to spend sunny afternoons, and fun ways to engage with the community. From a year-round rec center to a boardwalk and plenty of greenspace, there’s no shortage of ways to spend your free time. Yoga sessions, school tours, nature activities, and wellness classes are all on tap.
Even when the summer comes to a close, there will still be a reason to venture to the Harlem Meer — the Gottesman Pool will transform into an ice rink once the wintertime rolls around. We’ll see you there!
