Spring in the NYC region has a way of making people suddenly very willing to drive for flowers, and Dalton Farms is making that decision extremely easy this year.
The 99-acre Swedesboro, New Jersey farm has brought back its annual Tri-State Tulip Festival, and this year’s 2026 season is the biggest yet.
Its fields are packed with 1.5 million tulips, plus daffodils, photo ops, wagon rides, and a beer garden for anyone hoping to turn a flower stroll into a full spring outing.
For New Yorkers who want the kind of spring escape that feels a little dreamy, a little over-the-top, and very worth the trip, this is one of the biggest bloom-heavy getaways on the calendar in April.
A giant tulip season in South Jersey
Dalton Farms has been leaning into spring for years, but this season feels especially big.
According to the farm, this year’s tulip display will stretch across acres of blooming color, with more than 1.5 million tulips depending on the source, along with 400,000 daffodils and more than 200 varieties of spring color.
The festival is running right now as we speak, since it kicked off on April 2 and runs through April 24, weather and bloom conditions permitting.
With daily hours from 10 am – 7 pm, that means you have less than 2 weeks to experience one of the most magical flower escapes in not only the Tri-State area, but the whole Northeast.
Tickets are available online, and the farm says admission can sell out, so this is one of those spring outings where waiting too long can actually cost you the whole trip.

What you’ll find there
Let’s be clear here…this is not just a field of flowers and a parking lot.
Dalton Farms has built the festival into a full day out, with the kind of extras that make it easy to bring friends, family, or a camera roll that’s about to get very full.
Here’s what stands out:
- 1.5 million tulips across the farm, depending on bloom timing.
- Wagon rides around the property.
- A beer garden for a more grown-up spring outing.
- Photo ops throughout the fields.
- A giant slide and playground area for kids.
- Pick-your-own blooms, depending on what’s available during the season.
That mix is part of what makes the festival so appealing.
It’s colorful enough for the Instagram crowd, but active enough that it doesn’t feel like a one-and-done quick stop.
And the best part about Dalton Farms is that it gives you the feel of a destination without making the trip feel impossible.
It’s close enough for a day trip, but far enough to feel like a little spring escape once you get there.
