For those exhibit hopping this spring — and for the celestially in-tune — make sure Cosmic Splendor: Jewelry from the Collections of Van Cleef & Arpels makes its way onto your list.
The American Museum of Natural History will unveil nearly 70 dazzling spectacles on Friday, April 11th, and collection includes the High Jewelry Maison founded in Paris’ Place Vendôme in 1906. Sure the pieces are 119 years old, but trust us, they only get more dazzling with age.
Whether you’re interested in astronomy or turn to the sky for answers via astrology, you’ll find a lot to love about these accessories: necklaces that depict rockets in flight, gem-encrusted pendants with inspiration from distant nebulae, and watches that follow planets’ movements. It’s proof that even distant galaxies can have an impact on our fashion and expression.
“For millennia, people have been moved by the grandeur of space to explore the workings of our universe—and to create captivating works of art such as this spiral clip that’s composed of rubies, diamonds, platinum, and rose gold,” the Museum said in a statement.
If you need a feast for the eyes, and perhaps some fashion inspo of your own, stop by Cosmic Splendor.
The exhibit is included with general admission in the Melissa and Keith Meister Gallery. While you’re at it, have a look at some of our other favorite museums and art galleries we’re exploring this spring.
