Compton’s, Astoria’s go-to shop for mouthwatering sandwiches, is heading to Brooklyn, taking over the spot that used to be home to 99 Franklin, according to Greenpointers.
Compton’s was named the #1 Sandwich Shop in Astoria two years in a row by BOAST, a platform that shares their insight on all the best spots in Astoria and Long Island City. They noted the sandwiches are “all incredibly good and will keep you satisfied!”
And with a menu as good as theirs, it’s hard to disagree.
Amongst popular items are their Vodka Chicken Parm, made with breaded chicken tenders, sharp provolone, ricotta spread, house vodka sauce, and Italian seasoning on a toasted seeded semolina hero, the Wit Whiz Philly Cheesesteak Hot Sandwich, made with chopped steak, Cheese Whiz, and diced caramelized onions on a toasted seeded semolina hero, and the Rob Cold Sandwich made with turkey, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and lime aioli on a soft seeded semolina hero.
Beyond both hot and cold sandwiches you can also find wraps, burgers, sweets, and tasty sides such as rice balls, jalapeño poppers, onion rings, and tater tots.
Compton’s originally opened in Astoria back in 2018. According to AstoriaPost, owner Alex Compton had always wanted to pursue his passion for cooking and decided to take the jump and open Compton’s in Château le Woof’s old location.
Compton’s vision was for the restaurant to be a combination of an old-school New York deli and a contemporary city coffee shop where everyone would feel welcome.
Compton told Greenpointers that the opening of the shop’s third location is “very exciting” and that, if all goes according to plan, NYers can expect to get some tasty sandwiches beginning the first week of March.
Compton’s can currently be found in Astoria at 28-02 23rd Avenue and 30-02 14th Street. The new location will open at 99 Franklin in Greenpoint.
