The unifying power of music is undeniable. Recently, the renowned music platform COLORS co-hosted events at Paris’s Fête de la Musique during a sweltering 105-degree heatwave.
Despite the soaring temperatures, the crowds showed up in full force with water bottles and spinning fans, proving that music brings people together even in the sweatiest of times.
Now, COLORS is bringing that exact energy to their Brooklyn studio for a highly anticipated summer event.
A space to create and connect
The COLORS Brooklyn studio is quickly becoming a hub for these special cultural moments. Whether it’s for productions, work sessions, or live events, it’s a place where people come to connect and watch art come alive.
Most recently, the space was packed when the NYC-based sibling band Infinity Song walked through the doors to record their COLORS SHOW. The four siblings grew up singing together with their choir director father, performing on subway platforms long before the world caught on.
In 2016, they were pulled into Roc Nation’s office to sing for Jay-Z—and the rest is history. Their story and authentic family bond perfectly capture the creative spirit the studio was built for.
What to expect at TONES OF NYC
To celebrate this creative community, COLORS is officially opening its doors to the public for TONES OF NYC. This massive three-day activation will take place in their studio space from July 7 through July 9, and it is completely free to attend.
Shina, the community programming lead for the event, has orchestrated an incredible lineup featuring both returning collaborators and fresh faces. The weekend is packed with amazing partners and projects you won’t want to miss:
- A housewarming party with music collective WHATMORE.
- An album release party with Kelela.
- A community packing event focused on food access with One Love Community Fridge.
- A photography exhibition by the collective Street Dreams.
- Live DJ sets provided by Half Moon.
- A vintage marketplace featuring local vendors curated by Storage.
- Summer Stage performances at Herbert Von King Park featuring Mereba, Mack Keane, and Arima Ederra.
- An intimate live performance and storytelling session by Infinity Song.
Building a real community
While the activations are top-tier, the true goal of TONES OF NYC is much deeper. The organizers want the studio to feel like a home where visitors can genuinely connect.
“What I’m really looking forward to is creating space for people to have conversations that actually matter,” Shina explains. It’s about figuring out how to support the neighborhood together, even through the little things.
The event is designed to be a welcoming home for like-hearted people, whether you consider yourself a creative or not. If you want to meet new friends, hang out, or even just get some work done, the space is free and open to all.
