If your bank account has been feeling personally victimized by your grocery receipts lately, Chipotle is swooping in with a massive fix. To celebrate a trifecta of holidays–Cinco de Mayo, Teacher Appreciation Week, and National Nurses Week–the fast-casual giant just announced it’s giving away a whopping $2 million worth of free food.
Whether you’re a loyal bowl-builder or a burrito purist, consider this your official sign to stop overthinking dinner plans and let Chipotle handle it–on the house
Here is everything you need to know to snag a free meal in NYC this May.
The Cinco de Mayo Kickoff (May 5)
On Sunday, May 5, Chipotle is turning “guac is extra” into “guac is free.” Digital guests can score free chips and guac or free chips and queso blanco with the purchase of any entrée.
- How to get it: Order via the Chipotle app or Chipotle.com
- The Code: Use CINCO26 at checkout
Cinco de Mayo is all about coming together over food…Our chips, guacamole and Queso Blanco are fan favorites for a reason…There’s no better day to give them to our fans for free. – Stephanie Perdue, Interim Chief Marketing Officer at Chipotle

Free Chipotle for Teachers & Healthcare Workers (Now – May 12)
The biggest slice of the $2 million pie is reserved for the heroes of our community.
As part of Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4 through May 8) and National Nurses Week (May 6 through May 12) Chipotle is giving away 200,000 free entrée e-gift cards to educators and medical professionals.
How it works:
- Enter to Win: Teachers and healthcare workers can enter (now through May 12) for a chance to win on their respective microsites: Teachers Entry | Healthcare Workers Entry
- The Selection: 100,000 winners from each group will be randomly selected
- Verification: If selected, you’ll need to verify your employment via ID.me within 48 hours
- The Reward: Winners will be notified starting May 13 to receive their free entrée e-gift card

Since 2016, the chain has given back over $16 million to these communities. As Perdue puts it:
At Chipotle, we’re committed to showing up for the communities we serve, and that starts with the people who make a difference every day. Recognizing teachers and healthcare workers through this program is one way we can give back meaningfully.
