Chinatown Arts Week has been celebrating art in Chinatown for the past 4 years, and this year their 5th iteration will be bigger and better than ever, extending to an entire month rather than just a week.
Now dubbed Chinatown Arts Festival, the Think!Chinatown team, the ones behind Chinatown’s new monthly night market, will be hosting a series of cultural programs featuring traditional Chinese arts groups alongside emerging Asian American artists throughout the entire month of October. These programs are meant to celebrate the cultural richness of Manhattan’s beloved Chinatown neighborhood.
Led by festival curators, Yin Kong and Amy Chin, the festival will feature grassroots Chinatown artists and emerging Asian American artists in context and dialogue with each other in hopes of bringing together multiple generations and connecting to a wider arts audience.
Attendees can expect to enjoy musical and performances, community workshops, art exhibitions, block parties, and so much more! The best part–all events are free to the public.
Chinatown Arts Festival will kick off on at Nine Orchard Hotel on Tuesday, October 4th with a fundraiser on the roof of the historic Jarmulowsky Bank where guests can take in stunning views of Chinatown, enjoy performances, and dance the night away.
