Before the city’s galleries close for their annual summer breaks, there’s still time to immerse yourself in art and culture at some of the best that Chelsea galleries have to offer! The Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) is hosting the fifth iteration of its annual Chelsea Gallery Walk this month, on Wednesday, July 19th.
As part of this free, self-guided walk, galleries participating in the event will stay open late (until 8 p.m.) for a rare opportunity for New Yorkers to get a glance at their exhibitions after-hours.
Out of the ADAA’s nearly 200 galleries scattered around more than 30 cities across the nation, 43 of them are located in Chelsea, and this number continues to grow!
34 of these 43 galleries will participate in this month’s gallery walk, including:
- 303 Gallery
- SKOTO GALLERY
- Yossi Milo Gallery
- Mary Ryan Gallery
- DC Moore Gallery
Some program highlights include:
- 303 Gallery – a book signing and launch for artist Sam Falls’ new publication along with a reading by artist Kim Gordon’s daughter, Coco Gordon Moore
- Lehmann Maupin – a guided tour of “THE CORPSING PICTURES,” led by Curatorial Director Katherine Rochester, as well as giveaways of exhibition catalogs and posters
- Susan Inglett Gallery – an action painting session and a guided exhibition walkthrough of “Monkey Business,” led by curator David Platzker
It’s not everyday you get to spend a warm summer evening viewing galleries after hours–so be sure to take advantage of this night!
The Chelsea Gallery Walk will take place Wednesday, July 19th, from 6p.m. – 8p.m. The full list of participating galleries can be found here.
