The Alamo is turning 50, and it’s throwing a free “Astor Blaster” party and light show to celebrate!
Remember how happy you were when the Astor Cube (the Alamo) came back last November? For whatever reason, the much-loved Astor place cube has captured the hearts and minds of New York City, and this year it turns 50!
It’s going to be a long lead up until it’s actual birth date, which lands in November, but that isn’t stopping organizers from starting the celebration early. On May 5 The Village Alliance will throw the “Astor Blaster” bash, officially marking the beginning of the months of events that lead up to the official birthday.
At the free silent disco you’ll receive a wireless headset and have the option of listening to three live DJs spinning retro hits, all the while you’ll be dancing the evening away around NYC’s favorite geometric sculpture. The festivities will start 6:30 pm and go on until 10:30 pm, after you’ll have the option head to nearby bars that are participating in the event.
…oh yeah, did we mention the awesome light and projection show? This looks like the perfect way to welcome in the weekend
This looks like it will be the perfect way to welcome in the weekend, a good ol’ fashioned block party. See you all there.
