Spring in New York usually means hunting for cherry blossoms in Central Park, but if you’re looking for a more nostalgic escape, a certain floppy-eared friend is taking over the tracks upstate!
The Catskill Mountain Railroad has officially announced the return of its fan-favorite Easter Bunny Express.
For three days only starting this month, New Yorkers can board a vintage train for a scenic journey through the Catskills that feels less like a commute and more like a scene from an Easter storybook.

What to expect on the Easter Bunny Express
The adventure begins at the historic Westbrook Station in Kingston, NY.
Once you’re settled into your seat, the train chugs along the old Catskill Mountain Branch Line, offering sweeping views of the Esopus Creek and the budding spring landscape of the Hudson Valley.
The highlight of the 90-minute round trip isn’t just the view—it’s the destination.
According to official event details, the train makes a special stop at a secluded Easter Egg Patch. Here, passengers can:
- Meet the Easter Bunny: Get your cameras ready for photos with the guest of honor.
- The Great Egg Hunt: Children can scavenge the patch for hidden treasures.
- Seasonal Snacks: Enjoy small treats and spring-themed refreshments provided on board.
While the kids are focused on the candy, adults will appreciate the history (and the views!).
The Catskill Mountain Railroad operates on tracks that date back to the 19th century.
The slow-roll pace (about 10-15 mph) is designed specifically for sightseeing and nature documentary vibes, allowing you to spot local wildlife as the train hugs the riverbank.
