NYC is an animal lover’s paradise, and there’s things you can only find in a city like ours…cat cafes?! Well yes, here in the Big Apple you can actually drink some coffee and unwind in the company of some adorable feline friends in one full swoop.
Even more wholesome though is that these cafes play an important role in supporting animal rescue and adoption efforts, offering New Yorkers the chance to connect with cats in need of loving homes! So whether you’re looking for a new pet or just want to snuggle with some furry friends…you’ve got to check out one of these incredible cat cafés in NYC!
1. Koneko Cat Cafe, Lower East Side
This Japanese-inspired cat café is the very first that ever hit America, and it features 3 different spaces for cats to roam: the Upper Cattery, Lower Cattery, and an outdoor Catio. Customers can enjoy the café’s variety of Japanese snacks and beverages like edamame, okonomiyaki, coffee, tea, sake, and more while playing with friendly felines. Plus, Koneko Cat Cafe also teams up with Anjellicle Cats Rescue, who helps at-risk cats find homes…and you can adopt them on the spot!

2. Meow Parlour, Lower East Side
Meow Parlour was NYC’s first cat café, and continues to be one of the best places to get up close and personal with adorable kitties! They sell a variety of drinks and catified baked goods provided by Macaron Parlour, but this spot focuses heavily on the environment and time spent with the cats.
They partner with KittyKind, a no-kill rescue group, to help New Yorkers pair their roster of cute felines with locals that visit the cafe! The way it works is by booking a 50 minute session ($22+tax) and you can play with them to your heart’s content (and even adopt one too!).

3. Brooklyn Cat Cafe, Brooklyn Heights
Brooklyn Cat Cafe is the go-to cat cafe in Brooklyn, and they’ve been serving the community with cats and snacks since 2007. This spot is more of a volunteer-run adoption center and community space than it is traditional cafe, but their partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition (BBAWC) makes it the only non-profit cat cafe in New York City.
Don’t worry, they also do sell drinks and snacks…and they also host awesome events (movie nights, comedy nights, etc), kitten parties, and so much more. You can sign up for 30 minute sessions online for only $12, where you can play with over 35+ cats strolling throughout the cafe! Of course, you can also adopt from here too.
