Whether you’re a yogi or someone more inclined to say “Nama-stay at home,” Bryant Park’s amazing free yoga classes are worth attending.
They returned for their 20th year earlier this summer on Wednesday, May 31, but they’re not going away any time soon–they’ve just officially announced they’ll once again be extending the program into the fall!
This favorite summer activity normally runs from May until the end of August, however, similar to last year, Bryant Park is extending their classes into the month of September by popular demand.
These hour-long classes focus on healing and stress reduction. Classes happen on the Upper Terrace and on the Lawn. They are entirely free and open to the public, with registration required.
“Twenty years ago, we started one of the first free outdoor yoga programs in New York City. It has grown from a handful of participants then, to sometimes over a thousand yogis on the lawn in recent years,” said Daniel Biederman, Executive Director of Bryant Park Corporation. “We’re always delighted to be joined by so many yoga enthusiasts.”
Mats are not provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own as well as arrive early in order to reserve their spot.
The classes are designed for yogis of all levels, led by expert instructors like beloved NYC studio owner Bethany Lyons and Bryant Park yoga favorite Sara Clark.
In years past, they’ve even livestreamed the classes on the Bryant Park Instagram page @bryantparknyc!
Classes will take place Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. through September 27. The schedule is as follows:
- Sept. 5 – Sarah Flaherty
- Sept. 6 – Miraval Instructor (TBA)
- Sept. 12 – Jacqui Bongiovani
- Sept. 13 – Jo Murdock
- Sept. 19 – Yuval Samburski
- Sept. 20 – Lulu Soni
- Sept. 26 – Kristen Dollard
- Sept. 27 – Dara Hart
As you can probably tell from the picture above (and from attending previous years, course), these classes fill up quickly! So be sure to reserve a spot in advance here.
Bryant Park Yoga partners Miraval Berkshires Resort & Spa and Lifeway support the series.
