A/D/O Design Space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn is not only an intellectual’s playground but also an interesting place to stop by for the occasional immersive art installation!
The A/D/O Special Projects Gallery is an outdoor space used for large-scale exhibits pertaining to architecture and urban infrastructure. It is located at A/D/O’s 23,000 square foot work space along with their retail space and restaurant. The refurbished warehouse is open to the public and also features a co-working space for members.
Until September you can stop by to see the collaboration with the London based collective, United Visual Artists (UVA) and their exhibition, Spirit of the City.
In the space, visitors are invited to walk between a series of nine-foot-high mirrored columns that rotate to offer changing reflections and refractions. Moving through the installation is intended to be both “mesmerizing and disorientating,” similar to the effect one feels when moving through a large city like New York, according to the A/D/O website.
The exhibit is on from Monday-Saturday from 9am-7pm and Sunday from 10am-5pm. You can learn more about the exhibition and the artists behind it here.
