One of the most iconic waterfront parks in NYC received a welcomed upgrade to its entrance area.
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 1 pavilion is officially open, just in time for the springtime weather we’re hopefully going to receive. (No more freeze warnings, please.)

Those who are venturing to the Dumbo green space can expect a few new amenities: an elevated area to take in the skyline views and public restrooms, including the park’s first private family and gender-neutral facilities. (Since NYC only has one public bathroom for every 7,800 New Yorkers, this is a welcomed addition.)
Additionally, the pavilion is a way to celebrate the park’s new partner, Breads Bakery. We are all for enjoying the gorgeous grounds while snacking on something sweet. Coffee and a slice of babka cake? Don’t mind if we do!

“Brooklyn Bridge Park shows what happens when we dream big for our public spaces, with the public and private sectors coming together to transform the vestiges of our city’s industrial past into a community treasure that fits all needs,” said Deputy Mayor for Operations Jeff Roth. “A beautiful gateway to the park and a symbol of our environmental commitments in equal measure, the new Pier 1 Entryway is the kind of forward-thinking public investment that makes New York City special.”
More than an inviting start to the park, this new pavilion represents accessibility, sustainability, and community-driven designs and facilities that will serve guests well for well beyond its next chapter.
“For the past 15 years, Brooklyn Bridge Park has been an essential part of our city’s identity, and this investment is a critical step toward enhancing the park’s accessibility and sustainability for years to come,” Congressman Dan Goldman said in a statement. “This newly improved space will make it easier than ever for both New Yorkers and visitors to fully experience the vibrant community the park has to offer.”
Next up? We’re patiently waiting for the park’s outdoor summer schedule and highly-anticipated movie night lineup. Once we know more, we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop!
